Tottenham star James Maddison opens up on being denied Christmas party after team-mate took money to RIVAL CLUB

TOTTENHAM’S James Maddison has revealed how he and his former team-mates were denied a Christmas party after an ex-colleague took the money to a RIVAL CLUB.

The star, 26, ended his five-year spell at Leicester City to join Spurs in a £45million move in the summer.

James Maddison has revealed an hilarious story about ex-Leicester team-mate Marc AlbrightonRex

The England international has made a great start to life in North London, although Maddison did suffer an injury blow last night when hobbling off in Tottenham’s 4-1 defeat to Chelsea last night.

However, prior to that setback, Maddison made an appearance on Sky’s hit TV show A League of Their Own.

And during the outing he hilariously opened up on an incident involving Leicester’s legendary winger Marc Albrighton, 33, and last season’s Christmas party.

The veteran was part of the Foxes 2016 Premier League winning squad and later played alongside Maddison to lift the FA Cup in 2021.

Having been at Leicester since 2014, the ex-Aston Villa man was given one of the most senior roles inside the dressing-room and was in charge of dishing out the players’ penalty fines.

That money collected would go towards their festive knees-up – but that task ended when he moved to West Brom on loan last term.

However, he failed to return the cash ahead of the Christmas bash.

Maddison revealed: “Normally it goes into a kitty for a night out at Christmas or something.

“At Leicester last year Marc Albrighton was looking after it and then he went on loan in January to West Brom and took it with him so we never got a night out.”

He then jokingly pointed at the camera and said: “He’ll be watching as well, we want that!”

Albrighton is back in the Leicester squad this term following their relegation.

But with the Foxes riding high in top spot of the Championship, another party could well be on the cards as we prepare to hit the festive season.
