JAMIE CARRAGHER reckons Arsenal can NOT win the Premier League this season.

That’s because they are lacking in two key positions after losing to Newcastle on Saturday.

The Gunners suffered their first defeat of the Premier League season as the Magpies netted a controversial winner at St James’ Park.

The ball appeared to go out of play before Anthony Gordon fired home for Eddie Howe’s side.

And Arsenal were unable to find a reply after Kai Havertz escaped a red card for a horror tackle on Sean Longstaff.

The Gunners are now three points behind champions Manchester City, who they beat earlier this season.

And rivals Tottenham could go five points clear with a win against Chelsea on Monday.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the final whistle, Liverpool legend-turned-pundit Carragher insisted Arsenal will not be winning the league this season.

He reckons Mikel Arteta does not have a proven goalkeeper, despite boasting Spain international David Raya AND England international Aaron Ramsdale in his squad.

Carragher also feels Arsenal are lacking a proper striker through the middle.

And fellow pundit Izzy Christiansen also echoed his sentiments.

She said: “I don’t think Arsenal created enough today. Newcastle wanted it more, they created the better chances.

“We didn’t talk about Saka and Martinelli. City have the likes of Grealish, Doku who can rotate. That might be the solution, having that target player they might adapt that style.”

Carragher declared: “Have Arsenal got a centre forward and a goalkeeper to win the league? I don’t think they have.

“For me Ramsdale’s not going to win the league. Raya is all over the place.

“Bringing Declan Rice in improves it, but it doesn’t seem fluid, players were playing out of their skin last season.”

Cristiansen added: “Teams have figured out how to play against them. I think teams have figured out how to stifle them.

“When Arsenal get to the final third they always look to cut back, teams are getting more organised.”
