Greenwood drilled home from Borja Mayoral’s cut-back in his fifth appearance for the club. The game ended 2-2.

And he took to Instagram on Monday to describe how he felt after breaking his goalscoring duck.

The forward wrote: “Happy to score my first goal for Getafe. Amazing team spirit to come away from the game with a point.”

The social media post has so far received more than 1.3million likes.

Greenwood arrived at Getafe on deadline day this summer and made his debut on September 17.

His coach Jose Bordalas pledged to help him “recover his best level”.

It comes after Jamaica‘s manager Heimir Hallgrimsson said he wants Greenwood play for the island nation.

The Reggae Boyz coach said: “We would like to have the best talent on our team.

“If he gets his former fitness and former levels, then for sure he would have that level to help Jamaica.”

Greenwood was suspended by Manchester United in January 2022 and charged with attempted rape and assault in October last year, but the charges were later dropped.

England’s Crown Prosecution Service said key witnesses had withdrawn and new material had come to light, removing a “realistic prospect of conviction”.

Greenwood, who made his United debut aged 17 and has played 129 times for the club, has a contract at Old Trafford until 2025.

The English side conducted a six-month internal investigation into Greenwood and decided he should continue his career elsewhere.
