Barcelona slapped with summer transfer ban with LaLiga refusing to let them register players over FFP breaches

BARCELONA will not be able to sign any players in the summer transfer window, according to LaLiga president Javier Tebas.

The Spanish giants have spent nearly £150million over the past 12 months on a host of star players including Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Jules Kounde.

But Tebas has now claimed they will be prevented from doing any business in the upcoming window after the club broke rules pertaining to the transfers of minors.

Barcelona have continued to sign players despite an ongoing financial crisis which saw them lose Lionel Messi in 2021.

They acquired a host of free agents in the summer including Marcos Alonso, Franck Kessie, Andreas Christensen and Hector Bellerin.

And they were being linked with bringing in the likes of Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan at the end of the season.

But they are now set to be denied bringing in any new arrivals as they face being stuck with their existing squad through to the start of the 2023/24 campaign.

Xavi‘s rejuvenated side have impressed domestically so far this season.

Barcelona sit seven points clear at the top of the LaLiga table as they bid to reclaim the Spanish title from Real Madrid.

And they are into the Copa del Rey semi-finals – where they will face Carlo Ancelotti’s European champions.

But Barca have already been eliminated from both the Champions League and Europa League.

They finished third in their Champions League group behind Bayern Munich and Inter Milan.

They then dropped down to the Europa League but were beaten 4-3 on aggregate by Manchester United in the play-off round.
